"You guys are my heroes," an A&R executive (to remain un-named) told Tom Oteri and Rich Fagan not long ago, "for not giving in."

Giving in?

What he was talking about was that OF Music has remained independent in the days where it's risky to be independent. Many times, OF Music has received offers to sign over their catalog--and certainly to sign Rich as a writer--to much larger companies. But Rich and Tom have their own agenda where music is concerned. They have remained independent all these years.While it can be argued that this has cost them some money along the way, there's no denying their success. OF Music remains one of the last of the successful (i.e. money-making) independent publishers in Nashville today.

The company has a reputation, not only for great music, but for fairness and honesty. To say nothing of a great sense of humor. Among the many gold and platinum records hanging in its office, this picture is prominent:
